Call Today!

Hello, Penny here again.  I took a few days off last month, but I’m back to my daily routine.  Every day I keep hearing Jeff and Shari talking to people about Canine Influenza, so I decided to check it out.  I know that I had to have that shot when I got my vaccinations, but now I know why.

According to both the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association say that any dog at risk of exposure to the influenza virus should be vaccinated against both H3N2 and H3N8 strains.  That’s why they call it the bivalent influenza series.  The first strain is given and you are required to go back in 2-3 weeks for the second strain.  Good news!  After that the yearly vaccination will be given in one dose.

Dogs at greatest risk are those who go to Dog Parks, Doggy Day Care, Training Classes, Boarding Facilities, Groom Shops and ANY place dogs hang our like Retail Stores, Dog Friendly patios and Walking Trails. I was also sad to find out that puppies and older dogs are at greater risk too, just like people.

I am so happy that my friends at All Kreatures maintain a high standard and listen to the experts!  I want all of my buddies to stay happy and healthy!

See you next time,  Penny
