On Tuesday, December 10th, All Kreatures Pet Care and WVLT paired up to host the first annual Santa Paws animal supplies drive! This supply drive directly benefited Young-Williams Animal Center and their two Knoxville locations—Division Street & Kingston Pike (the Village). Animals hold a special place in our hearts, and we wanted to share a bit of holiday cheer with those still waiting for the love and warmth of a forever home.

About Young-Williams Animal Center

Young-Williams Animal Center has been a cornerstone of animal welfare in Knoxville since its inception in January 2001. Originally established as the Knoxville/Knox County Animal Welfare Center, its journey to becoming the life-saving organization it is today reflects the dedication of passionate citizens and a shared commitment to animal care. The organization continued to expand its impact with the opening of Young-Williams Animal Village in 2010, offering a secondary adoption floor and housing the Young-Williams Spay/Neuter Solutions program. In 2012, the center became a private 501(c)(3) organization, and in 2018, it achieved the remarkable milestone of becoming a no-kill shelter, saving 90% or more of the animals in its care. Today, Young-Williams Animal Center remains steadfast in its mission, “A Home for Every Pet,” providing compassionate care and second chances to thousands of animals every year.

Why Animal Supply Drives Matter

Animal supply drives like Santa Paws play a critical role in supporting shelters like Young-Williams by providing the resources they need to care for animals. Every donated bag of food, blanket, or toy directly impacts the quality of life for pets waiting for adoption. Shelters like Young-Williams Animal Center often operate under tight budgets, stretched thin by the ever-growing demand for their services. Donations of food ensure no animal goes hungry, while bedding and blankets provide warmth and comfort to scared or abandoned pets. Toys and enrichment items keep animals mentally stimulated, reducing stress and improving their chances of being adopted. By supporting drives like Santa Paws, the community ensures that shelters have the tools to save lives and give every pet a chance at a loving home. By participating in this drive, you directly contributed to these critical needs and helped save lives.

Extend the Holiday Cheer: How Can You Continue to Help?

The Santa Paws Animal Supply Drive was more than just a drop-off event—it’s a celebration of community and compassion. Supporting animal welfare doesn’t have to stop when an animal supply drive ends—there are countless ways to continue making a difference. Monetary donations are always needed and help shelters cover medical costs, facility maintenance, and operational expenses. Volunteering is another impactful way to contribute, whether by walking dogs, socializing cats, or assisting with adoption events. Additionally, fostering animals provides temporary homes for pets in need, giving them a loving environment and freeing up space in the shelter. Spreading awareness through social media and encouraging friends and family to adopt or donate can amplify your impact and ensure shelters receive continuous support long after the drive is over. Conclusion

To those who donated to the 2024 Santa Paws Animal Supply Drive, we thank you. While the drive may be over, the spirit of giving can continue—consider volunteering, fostering, or supporting the shelter year-round to keep the momentum going. Thank you for making this season brighter for Knoxville’s animals in need!
